After graduating from the University of South Florida College of Medicine, the author completed an internal medicine residency at Vanderbilt University. This was followed by a fellowship in Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine at University of South Florida. Immediately thereafter, he became an assistant professor at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine and now heads the Section of Infectious Diseases. His interests include infection control and employee health, sexually transmitted diseases, severe sepsis and septic shock, multi-drug resistant bacteria and traveler’s medicine.
