Jeremy Farrar obtained a BSc in Immunology from the University of London (UK) in
1983, graduated in medicine from London University in 1986, and later was
awarded his Doctor of Philosophy (Molecular Immunology) from Oxford University.
In 1996 he was appointed as Director of the Oxford University Research Unit at
the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh CIty Viet Nam, a collaborative
research programme between Viet Nam and Oxford University supported by the
Wellcome Trust UK. In 2002 he was awarded a Wellcome Trust Senior Clinical
Research Fellowship. His research interests include the pathophysiology and
treatment of Dengue, malaria, typhoid, tetanus, and infections of the Central
Nervous System and other serious tropical infectious diseases.
Jeremy Farrar has contributed to over 100 peer reviewed scientific publications.
He is a Clinical Reader at Oxford University. He is a member of several WHO and
other International advisory committees and a regular reviewer for a number of
international journals
