David Fredricks is an Assistant Member in
the Program in Infectious Diseases at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research
Center and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of
Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the University of Washington in Seattle. He
graduated from Stanford University with Bachelors and Masters Degrees in
Biology, and worked as an Associate Scientist for Liposome Technology,
Inc. He obtained his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in
Cleveland, Ohio, and residency training in internal medicine at the University
of California at San Francisco. He completed a fellowship in infectious
diseases at Stanford University, where he received a Physician Scientist Award
from the National Institutes of Health. His current research interests focus
on the application of molecular methods for the detection and identification
of microbes, particularly fastidious or cultivation-resistant pathogens.
