Dr. Rybak received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the College of Pharmacy and Masters of Publilc Health from the School of Medicine at Wayne State University, Detroit Michigan. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. He is currently, Associate Dean for Research, Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Medicine and the Director, Anti-Infective Research Laboratory at the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Wayne State University. Dr. Rybak is also clinical faculty and a member of the antimicrobial formulary committee at the Detroit Medical Center.

Dr. Rybak is an established author and lecturer in the area of antimicrobials. His most recent work has been in the areas of community-associated methicillin-resistant MRSA, vancomycin-resistant staphylococci, penicillin-resistant and tolerant-Streptococcus pneumoniae, and pharmacodynamic assessments of antibiotics alone and in combination using in vitro and clinical models of antibiotic resistance. Dr. Rybak serves as the scientific editor for Infectious Diseases for the journal Pharmacotherapy and serves as a reviewer and/or editorial panel member for Antimicrobial Agents Chemotherapy, Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, Clinical Infectious Diseases and the Journal of Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy.

Dr. Rybak has received numerous special awards, including the American College of Clinical Pharmacy Infectious Diseases Fellowship Award, The Russell Miller Award for Sustain Contributions to Literature of Clinical Pharmacy, Wayne State University's Academic Achievement Award for Natural Sciences, American Society of Health System Pharmacist's Research Foundation Award for Sustained Contributions to the Literature and the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists Award of Impact Paper of the Year. In addition, he is a fellow of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. Dr. Rybak is a founding member and Past-President of the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists. Dr. Rybak is board certified as a pharmacotherapy specialist by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialists with added qualifications for Infectious Diseases Pharmacotherapy.
