Dr. Martin received her undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania and then continued her education at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York. After that she came to Pittsburgh and has been here ever since. She completed her residency in Pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, spent a year as a chief resident and then completed a fellowship in pediatric Infectious Diseases. After finishing her training she has stayed as a faculty member of the Department of Pediatrics at Children’s. Her research interests are Group A streptococcal infections and rheumatic fever. She recently completed a five year longitudinal study of strep infections in school-aged children and has published these results. When she is not working and swabbing the throats of students she can be found at home with her husband and her own four children.
