Dr. Charles Rupprecht obtained his
veterinary degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1985 and his Ph.D. in
Biological Sciences from the University of Wisconsin. He currently serves as
Chief, Rabies Section, Viral and Rickettsial Zoonoses branch, Division of Viral
and Rickettsial Diseases, National Center for Infectious Disease at the Centers
for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Rupprecht has also served as Director,
World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Rabies Reference and
Research. He has won numerous federal service awards including the National
Center for Infectious Diseases Public Health Protection Research Award in 2005,
Honorary Diplomate of American Veterinary Epidemiology Society in 2003, the EPMS/PMRS
Performance Award from 2001 through 2005, 1997, 1996, and in 1993. He serves
on many Advisory Committees and has written over 200 publications.
