Cecile Bebear is Professor of Clinical Microbiology in the Department of Medicine of Bacteriology at the Bordeaux University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Bordeaux where she serves as Director of Research in the Department of Mycoplasmal and Chlamydial Infections in Humans, which is recognized as the French Expert Laboratory in human mycoplasmas and the French Reference Center for chlamydiae. She has been involved in human mycoplasma infections, diagnostic epidemiology and treatment for more than 15 years. She has authored numerous book chapters, research articles and meeting abstracts on these topics. Professor Bebear is currently the chair-elect of the International Organization for Mycoplasmology (IOM) and the head of the European Study Group for Mycoplasmal Infections in humans (ESGMI) and the European Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ESCMID).
